CORE website relaunches with new features, fresh look
Video about CORE now available
(Athens, OH - 9/8/09) A refreshed CORE website launched during the last week of August with several new features and an improved front page.
“The new changes are a response to some of the needs and suggestions we’ve heard from several different groups,” said Karoline Lane, director of communication for OU-COM and CORE. “They were great suggestions. The forums, video and navigation changes are just a start, though. We’re looking forward to continually improving to our web-based services and communications.”
New to the site is a forum discussion section in which CORE faculty, staff, residents and students can exchange comments, questions, ideas and best practices. Eventually, as many as seven different forums will be available, including discussions devoted exclusively to RPACs, medical education administration, faculty development and research.
“This provides another opportunity for people to collaborate across the system on ideas, problems, and solutions,” said Pam Royston, administrative director graduate medical education. Although not operational as of yet, the forums will go live within the next week or so, she said.
A second new feature is a video about the CORE that features students, faculty and administrators talking about the statewide consortium of osteopathic medical teaching hospitals.
Produced by OU-COM and Ohio University’s Communication and Marketing office, the video provides an overview of the CORE and highlights some of the unique advantages CORE brings to its partners’ residency programs
The websites’ front page is now wider by 200 pixels, has brighter navigation hover colors, and should load faster because of the change in graphics, according to web designer Chad Johnson of Electronic Vision, who implemented the changes to the site.
The CORE Research Office is more readily accessible from the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page. The previous side navigation panel has been changed, with buttons linking to news, calendar, forums, COREterly newsletters, an interactive guide to CORE sites and a section listing post residency career opportunities.
As in the previous version, the front page will continue to host top news stories, achievements and information about the CORE.
