Residents & Interns

The opportunities for engaging in Research throughout the CORE system are many, and the opportunities for collaboration on a research project even greater. As an intern or Resident in the CORE system you have many options for conducting research and open access to the services of the CORE Research Office. In addition to the basic research services available through the CRO, your study may qualify for CRO research funding to offset some expenses.

In addition to the research requirements mandated by your specialty college, you may choose to pursue research as an ongoing aspect of your professional work. The CRO stands ready to assist you with idea development, refining the research question, research design and study methodology, literature review, IRB submission, data analysis, and editorial support from the research protocol to the final document to dissemination.

If you wish to pursue a case-based paper, the CORE editor will assist you as you prepare the case report.

So long as you remain in the CORE system, as an Intern, a Resident, or as a practicing physician and research mentor, the services of the CRO will be available to you as you advance your career through research.

The CRO will assist you as you seek publication for your finished manuscript, prepare posters for exhibitions and competitions, and refine your materials for oral presentations of your research findings. For poster exhibitions and oral presentations, you may apply for CRO funds to help defer the costs of travel and lodging.
